ECW B.V. signs 3 year contract with WEP

April 2016, Hoogeveen, The Netherlands

Energie Combinatie Wieringermeer Geomanagement (ECW) has signed a 3 years contract with Well Engineering Partners for support on drilling engineering activities related to geothermal energy and the innovative project MDM-GT-05 well to install 9 5/8”High Strength Composite Casing of Akiet and to drill with 7”casing according to the Enhanced Casing Installation process of Huisman Well Technology.

Well Engineering Partners provided already well engineering, support and well site supervision on the drilling and well testing of the 4 existing geothermal injector-producer wells. This is the largest geothermal project in the Netherlands to date.

ECW takes care of the energy and water supply for the greenhouse complex Agriport A7 in the Wieringermeer, the Netherlands. Geothermal energy is used by several large-scale greenhouse enterprises. Main cultivation is tomato and paprika.

Geothermal energy provides 20% of the total demand at an equivalent of 2 million m3 natural gas per month.

Note that geothermal energy is sustainable energy; ECW’s present production is equivalent to 1/60 on monthly production the Groningen gas veld. Groningen gas field is the main supplier of natural gas to the Netherlands.
