Geothermal: Aardwarmtecluster I KKP B.V. Production Well Delivery

KKP-GT-03

Start Engineering: February 2019
Expected End Execution: July 2022

Objective: Well delivery of additional production well to existing doublet

Depth (MD): 2000m
Depth (TVD): 2000m

Client: Aardwarmtecluster I KKP B.V.
Location: Koekoekspolder
Wells: KKP-GT-03
Start Engineering: February 2019
Expected End Execution: July 2022
Objective: Well delivery, additional production well to existing doublet
Depths (MD): 2000m
Depths (TVD): 2000m
Role of WEP: Engineering, Procurement, Drilling Supervision, HSE and subsequent support (on-site and office based) during the well delivery phase.
Challenges: Simultaneous operations (since exploitation and drilling on the same site).
New Technology: Research project: HIPE, open hole / aquifer stimulation, radial jet drilling, internally coated production string.

Project Description

Aardwarmtecluster I KKP B.V. exploits a doublet for exactly one decade. So far since the start, roughly 48 million cubic meters of commercial gas have been replaced by geothermal heat.

Adding an extra production well to the existing doublet is what this project is all about. Well design/engineering phase started in 2019. The permit/license project took over two years. In 2021 the procurement started. Milestone of spudding the well was achieved in late May 2022

Keywords: WBM only, Rotary + PDM, open hole stimulation, internally coated production string, triplet
