Dutch candidates for IGA board and why this is essential

May 2019, Hoogeveen, The Netherlands

The IGA (International Geothermal Association) will soon be choosing a new main board. From the Netherlands, we nominate two candidates as Platform Geothermie (Dutch association for Geothermal Energy): Bob Harskamp (Well Engineering Partners) and Jelle Wielenga (Lloyds Register). Platform Geothermie is delighted that they have made themselves available.

The IGA is a global organization for the development of geothermal energy or, as they say, it themselves:

The IGA aims at being the leading world authority in matters concerning the research and development of geothermal energy by setting educational standards and offering worldwide energy solutions and in-house technical support, with special support for countries in early stages or geothermal development.

A Dutch representation is essential, among other things, to keep the issues of “low-enthalpy countries” on the agenda, in addition to those of high-enthalpy / volcanic areas.

The final list of candidates will be announced in May during the board meeting mid-May in Budapest, Hungary. The vote, by all parties affiliated with the various geothermal sector organizations in the world, will take place in the second half of 2019.
