EGC2025

October 3, 2025

Well Engineering Partners (WEP) will be present at hashtagEGC2025 next week in Zurich, organised by EGEC Geothermal. We are proud to contribute to building and sharing knowledge within the geothermal community:

1️⃣ Elisa Battistutta will present a joint TNO & WEP paper from the Electro Pulse Power (EPP) drilling project hashtagdeeplight. She will show how a physics-based model can determine hole-cleaning quality with minimal inputs. (Session 3F, Wednesday morning)

2️⃣ Together with EAPOSYS, WEP will present a poster on a proposed Energy Return on Energy Invested (EROI) framework for deep geothermal systems.
👉 EROI is key in the energy transition as it measures how much usable energy society gains relative to what it invests — shaping long-term sustainability and scalability.
(Poster session, Thursday 9th, afternoon)

3️⃣ TNO & WEP also collaborate on Digital Twin technology for geothermal systems within the Nieuwe Warmte Nu program. Don’t miss the poster “Monitoring Corrosion and Injectivity in Geothermal Plants with Digital Twin Technology” on Wednesday 8th!

We look forward to seeing you in Zurich!

Development Digital Twins for Geothermal Systems

Well Engineering Partners is developing together with TNO a Digital Twin for Geothermal Systems. Digital Twins can predict problems in Real-Time before they occur and assist in diagnosing issues. The Digital Twin scope currently covers the ESP, productivity & injectivity and the Well Integrity Management System including corrosion modelling. Floris Degener presented the Geothermal Digital […]

IADC Geothermal Drilling Conference & Exhibition 2025

Alexander Nagelhout will present at the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Geothermal Drilling Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Vienna on challenges that the geothermal industry is facing: increasing cost and a relatively small number of projects which can hardly sustain a workforce and supply chain in the EU. Insights will be presented for some […]
