JIP 2025: Advanced Geothermal System intersections
November 13, 2025
Since 2018, Well Engineering Partners (WEP) has supported Delft University of Technology by providing real-world cases for the annual JIP – Joint Interdisciplinary Project. The JIP program stands out for its open-ended challenges, value-driven decision-making, and emphasis on teamwork, self-leadership, and an entrepreneurial mindset — bridging engineering innovation with societal relevance.
This year, WEP teamed up again with EAPOSYS to explore how to improve intersections in Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS). A team of four Delft University of Technology Master’s students developed various interception concepts that they compared using a Python-based Monte Carlo simulation.
Their work delivered valuable insights to enhance the efficiency and economics of future AGS projects.
