WEP made it to the news in Ghana with an important milestone for Ghana’s energy sector.

GNPC Explorco has signed a project management consultancy agreement with Lubrimax Ghana Limited and its technical partner, Well Engineering Partners, to support Ghana’s first-ever onshore petroleum drilling campaign in the Voltaian Basin. This agreement marks a key step toward launching Ghana’s inaugural onshore exploration programme, with drilling activities expected to commence in 2026.

Under the partnership, WEP brings decades of international well engineering expertise, including well design, drilling supervision, risk management, and health, safety and environmental oversight. LubriMax will lead local logistics, procurement support and interface management, ensuring strong local execution.

This collaboration combines local operational strength with international technical expertise, supporting GNPC Explorco’s ambition to deliver the Voltaian Basin drilling campaign to the highest engineering and safety standards, while prioritising skills transfer to Ghanaian engineers.

We are honoured to contribute to this historic national project and to support the next chapter of Ghana’s onshore energy development.
