Salt

Salt: Nedmag TR-5 Partial abandonment

Project Description

The objective of this project was to place a cement plug, as part of the abandonment of Nedmag’s TR-5 salt well. TR-5 was drilled in 1982 and a first abandonment plug was placed in 2020.

The operations were executed using BPC’s pipe puller. First a scraper run was done, and a bridge plug was set as a base for the new cement plug. Then a 396 m cement plug was set in two stages to seal off the cavern and the Vlieland Sandstone.

All operations were completed without incidents or accidents. Currently the well is being monitored for a year. The planning is to finalize the abandonment in 2025

Role of WEP

Well engineering, planning, execution, writing designs, programs and HSE documents. During operations, SSV and WSE onsite and office support.
