Project Description

Well Engineering Partners has already provided various services for magnesium brine producing wells owned by Nedmag. One of the wells operated by Nedmag is VE-4, which was drilled in 1976 and completed in 1989. The well contains a dual completion for injection and production purposes and has been producing salt from 1994 until mid-2007. The objective of the current operation (Phase I), which has commenced at the end of May, is to remove the current completion from the well and perform measurements to evaluate the well’s status. The well will then be suspended until Phase II commences; recompleting the well with a single completion to be used for injection of fresh water into the cavern system.

For this project, Well Engineering Partners provides project planning, tendering engineering, coordination, management, and supervision for the project while other companies provide materials and services. To remove the completion from VE-4, BPC’s 340k and 600k HWU are used. Phase II of the project is planned to commence towards the end of the summer.
