Successful Completion of Dow Workover Campaign on K08, K12, and K27 Wells
April 2025 – Dow has successfully completed a workover campaign on three of its wells—K08, K12, and K27, each with their unique objectives. The operations were executed with the support of a strong team of service partners.
K08 – Cavern Access Restoration for Recompletion
During a previous workover in 2024, the outer string in well K08 was found to be stuck and partially deformed in the cavern neck. This workover focused on restoring access by removing the blockage and retrieving the outer string to enable recompletion later this year. The blockage area was perforated, followed by a period of controlled water injection to dissolve the obstructions. Subsequent logging confirmed successful leaching, whereafter a hydraulic workover unit was used to retrieve the outer string. After rig down of the hydraulic workover unit the operations were finalized with an open hole caliper to confirm the cavern neck was sufficiently wide for recompletion.
K12 – Preparation for Final Well Abandonment
The objective for the K12 workover was to remove the inner string and assess the condition of the outer string and the blockage position in the annulus in preparation for final abandonment. The operation was executed successfully and provided critical data for future planning. After the workover the 13 3/8” was successfully cut by EZ cutter.
K27 – Restoration of production point and Sonar Mapping
The inner leaching string in K27 was fully pulled to allow cutting of the damaged tubing end. The string was then re-run to facilitate wireline access for a sonar survey of the cavern. After survey completion, the inner string was repositioned to its new injection/production depth. All technical objectives were fulfilled.
